MELD Validator Nodes
This is an overview of what is needed to be a MELD node operators, technically what do they need to do, what requirements do we put on them and what do they get out of it.
MELD Nodes are the building blocks of the MELD ecosystem, integral to maintaining the security and robustness of our blockchain network. As a MELD Node, you will have the privilege of validating transactions, contributing to the decentralization of our network, and earning rewards.
Validator Nodes in the MELD Ecosystem
Validator nodes are pivotal to the MELD network, responsible for validating and appending new transactions to the MELD blockchain. This role is not just a privilege, but also a unique opportunity to earn rewards while aiding in maintaining the network's decentralization and robustness.
Delegation
In the MELD ecosystem, delegation is a straightforward and rewarding process. MELD token holders can delegate their tokens to specific validator nodes. This active contribution to network security and robustness allows token holders to earn yield on their staked tokens. The delegation process is handled via the MELDapp, offering a user-friendly and seamless experience.
Requirements and Benefits for a MELD Node Operator
Becoming a MELD Node Operator comes with specific requirements and benefits. We outline these for both the Permissions Phase and the Permissionless Phase.
Permissions Phase
During the Permissions Phase, at least 80% of the nodes must be run through one of our partner services. This ensures timely node updates and prevents network downtime.
Requirements:
Paid MELD Finance subscription
Node must maintain 98% uptime
Node must be updated within 3 days of the release of a new version
Node must hold a Bank Manager in the node wallet
Node must possess a valid Identity NFT
Node must stake 2000 AVAX (node must be an AVAX validator)
Node must hold 100,000 MELD in the node wallet
Node must accept delegation (10-day lockup)
A node can have no more than 20 million MELD staked
Benefits:
5% APY for the first 6 months, then a base amount of 2% APY
Block rewards comprise Tx fees and treasury payments
Treasury payments are 10% of treasury revenue generated in the same epoch
Permissionless Phase
In the Permissionless Phase, the requirements for a MELD Node Operator change slightly, and benefits remain attractive.
Requirements:
Node must hold a Bank Manager in the node wallet
Node must have AVAX validator status
If no valid Identity NFT, node must have 1,000,000 MELD in the node wallet
If valid Identity NFT, then 100,000 MELD in the node wallet
Benefits:
Block rewards comprise Tx fees and treasury payments
Treasury payments are 10% of treasury revenue generated in the same epoch
MELD PoS Delegation
MELD PoS Delegation allows MELD token holders to delegate their tokens to specific validator nodes on the MELD blockchain. Delegation is done via the MELDapp, enabling any MELD token holder to earn yield from delegation.
Rewards Structure:
Initial staking rewards: 5% for the first 6 months
Honeymoon staking rewards: 2% + 10% of monthly treasury revenue, starting 6 months after initial
Mainnet rewards: 10% of monthly treasury revenue
Infrastructure partner options for running a node
A node operator can run a node fully by themselves or they can use 1 of the following services, which provide running a node as a service:
GoGoPool, is a option if you don’t meet the AVAX threshold to run a node.
